In the city of Rio: tortoises, monkeys, beautiful plants
The Botanical Garden was founded in 1808 under the name "Jardim da Aclimatação" by Dom João, the prince of Portugal. Today the garden has a collection of 6.500 different plant species from Brazil, Latin America and other tropical regions of the world. During the walk you will get to know the majestic palm-avenue and the house of orchids and bromelias. You may also admire the beautiful lake, home of the water lily "Vitória Regia", the largest water lily of the Amazon.
It is possible that you combine the visit of the Botanical Gardens in a four-hour private tour with a visit of the favela Rocinha, with its 70.000 inhabitants the largest favela in Brazil. Please note, that the visit of the Botanical Gardens can generally be integrated in all our private tours.
