Historical coffee farm and Brazilian specialities
At the beginning of the 19th Century the valley "Vale de Paraiba" was the center of the coffee boom. The descendants of the coffee barons were powerless over the slow collapse of their world, as the international prohibition of the slave trade was enforced and slavery in Brazil was abolished in 1888. That was the end of the coffee barons in the Vale de Paraiba.
Let's take you back to the time of the coffee barons and listen to the fascinating stories of a bygone era while visiting a historic coffee farm !
It is possible to visit a historic coffee farm and a farm in which coffee is grown today.
When visiting the historic farm it is also possible to see a small theater piece (minimum : 15 people). After the tour a lunch with the typical regional delicacies will be served, just like in the time of the coffee barons.
Instead of visting a second farm, it is alternatively possible to visit a small museum "A CASA DA HERA " in Vassouras. The house is the best example of how the wealthy people of the city have lived during the coffee boom and the middle of the 19th Century.
The tour can be booked every day. However, more visitors are expected on weekends and holidays, which makes the theater play more possible to take place.
