Paraty - a journey to the historical port of gold and coffee
In the 18th century the port of Paraty was the second largest in the country. The gold of Minas Gerais was transported via the gold route "Caminho de Ouro da Piedade” up to Paraty. At the beginning of the 19th century the port of Paraty was used by the coffee barons of the Vale de Paraiba who still exported their coffee as well for the import of manufactures and spices.
Not only history and colonial charm characterizes Paraty, but also the nature in which the place is embedded: bay, tropical island and Atlantic Forest.
